ADVENTure Game Calendar - Day 25 Merry Christmas!

Merry friggin' Christmas everyone! It is finally here, the day I get to spend putting together toys for my kids for four straight hours and cursing at instructions that make no sense. But you know what; it is all worth it when you see the face of the kids who get the presents. There is something about giving a present that brings joy to a kid, especially when they think the present came from a random fat guy who broke into your house and left some wrapped gifts. It is nice.

Anyways, back to the point. For those who stuck around with the ADVENTureCalendar for the last 25 days and have read and/or left comments, I truly appreciate it. For some of these games, writing about them was like hopping in a time machine and going back to the first day I played them. I hope you all get a chance to play every game on that list, even the ones that are hard to find.

At the end of just about every entry in the series, I encouraged you all to go out and find these games and get your hands on them. As many of these games are older (some might even pre-date those reading this), they can be hard to find. However, there are two specific sources I strongly recommend you try: Steam and GOG.com. While Steam has some of the easier to find titles, GOG.com (good old games dot com) has a lot of the older titles that might be a bit harder to find. Others, you just have to try your luck on Amazon, Ebay or other random sites. Regardless, the hunt will be well worth it, I promise.

Adventure games had their high time during the 80's and 90's with TONS of amazing titles and a few terrible ones mixed in. But the genre isn't dead, we are seeing more and more titles as TellTale games brings out new announcements like Game of Thrones and the continuation of The Walking Dead. But the older games are just as fun today as they always were, and I hope I have inspired at least one person to get out and try some of these games.

Now, I promised Santa would drop by and make the hunting a little easier for some of you. You see, Santa Clause (me) strongly feels you should try these games out and is willing to put his money where his mouth is. So...Santa has brought gifts for some of you. He went out and got some of the games mentioned in the prior blogs through Steam or GOG and through random drawings from those who have read/commented/or talked with me on Twitter about the games, some recipients have been selected. Here we go:

The Complete Space Quest Collection - Steam: SnakePlissken722

The Complete King's Quest Collection - Steam: Xl9

Still Life 1 and 2 - Steam: Turkey

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Director's Cut + Original Game - GOG.com: DJH

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers and The Beast Within - GOG.com: cerpintaxman

Police Quest 1-4 - GOG.com: Silvershine08

The Complete Quest for Glory Collection - GOG.com: Joyful Penguin

Merry Christmas everybody and thanks to those who stuck it out with me. It has been a pleasure to get re-acquainted with the GIO blogging community and you will see more from me in 2014.
