The Games I Completed In 2013

I'm one of those baseball fanatics you see sitting in the bleachers with a glove fastened on the left hand and an iPad held in the right. The iPad is used to check career statistics for players, scouting report data, and to tweet stupid baseball jokes. If I'm not getting Internet service in the stadium, I have a Who's Who in Baseball book tucked away as backup. Baseball statistics are a beautiful thing, and my love of them has compelled me to jot down as many game-related statistics as I can. The one I like sharing with you guys revolves around the games I play and complete over the course of a year.

I shared my first data in 2011, a year in which I completed 70 different games. That “70” is starting to look like Roger Maris’ home run record – a towering number I doubt I’ll ever come close to hitting again. I only completed 48 games in 2012, and managed to hit 48 again in 2013, thanks to a last-second push at the end of December to complete shorter titles like Halo: Spartan Assault and Icicle: On Thin Ice.

I could have hit 50 easily, but for whatever reason, I didn’t go back and finish Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Lego Marvel Superheroes – two titles that I played extensively and could finish off with another hour or two of play time in each. Both of these titles will likely fall onto my “Games I Completed in 2014” list, much like how Need for Speed: The Run is on this year’s list.

Another oddity on this year's list is Toy Story 3, which I completed for a second time as part of my Disney Infinity review process. I started playing it again and couldn’t put it down.

The saying “all good things must come to an end” doesn’t necessarily apply to video games. Titles like Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Star Wars: Tiny Death Star were played extensively by me in 2013, but neither brought me to a conclusion state that I felt deserved a spot on this list.

Grand Theft Auto V is the game I logged the most time into. I put just under 60 hours into this title, and managed to achieve 100 percent completion in it. Dark is the game I didn’t want to complete, but ended up having to for Game Informer’s review. No, I will not be playing Dark’s DLC.

And I’d like to keep the tradition going of having you jot down the games you completed in 2013 in the comments section below. If you write your own blog just like I have, let me know and I’ll provide a link to it.
