I'm glad I didn't buy this game, but someone I know did and I borrowed it from them just so I could earn some trophies but even though this game is quite short,a play through of it felt like a long time because it's so boring.
It's gameplay is no different to any other FPS I've played.Only thing is it does nothing special to warrant it's full-price game tag. When I first begun this game,I tried to customize the controls so the movement and aiming could be done in a way that I feel comfortable with(a setup I use for every other FPS that I play a FPS with a controller)but I couldn't use that setup for MoH so I had to use another which made the movements and aiming feel stiff and made me die from enemies much more frequently.
I also experienced a near game-breaking gameplay moment,in which when I respawned at a check-point,numerous soldiers were near me and I was in the open and exposed to their gunfire.I don't know if it was a glitch or a design flaw, but I had to replay this segment many times to get past it due to cheap deaths when I shouldn't have had to.
The story is so generic,it's about the Americans fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan with generic missions.I know this game is not meant to be story-driven by when I saw this game on sale for 89 Australian dollars, you'd expect a more developed story.Even though Call of Duty games have war theme stories, many of the CoD games have a decent story, even if it's just about Americans fighting terrorists at least they try to add some sort of emotion or creativity to the story.Even worse, this game costed more than Call of Duty Modern Warefare 2,even though CoD MW2 is much more superior war themed FPS.
The visuals are grainy and typical middle-eastern desert and mountains you've probably seen many times in other FPS.I can understand the developers might have wanted to go for more desolate Afghan environments but the grainy visuals look ugly for a 2010 release(the visual quality for this game looks like something you'd expect from a PS3 launch title).
The mutliplayer is supposed to be decent but there's better multiplayer options for FPS games available for PS3(Resistance 2,CoD MW2)and I don't like playing shooters online anyways,I prefer single player experience which this game doesn't do a good job of.
Overall, the game was a bore and borderline as being playable for me because I had to force myself to keep playing it for more than 30 minutes and because of the horrible control set up options.
