5 New Instruments Link Could Play In Future Zelda Titles

Link has played tons of instruments, ranging from an ocarina to a harp. Many instruments he played (like the ocarina) were hardly known before he played it. For the upcoming Zelda game on Wii U, Link will probably play some sort of instrument with a specific power like the ocarina controlling time or the wind waker controlling the winds. So I decided to make a list of 5 instruments with special abilities that Link could play in future releases in the Zelda series. Kick back and enjoy!

1.Lute

The lutes main ability would be to summon statues in dungeons to solve puzzles and assist you in combat. The lute is a classic medieval instrument that is occasionally used in fantasy games, so it's odd that it hasn't been used yet. Players would use the gamepad to strum the correct cords. This instrument would be fun to use and very useful throughout the game.

2.Sitar

This instrument could be used to manipulate the weather by doing things like clearing away sandstorms, fog, or blizzards. Link could bring rain to dry, mini deku trees, or thaw out frozen areas (like the ice mountain in Wind Waker). The weather effects could also blow away tornados. To play this instrument, players would strum n the gamepad along with the sheet music that they obtain like in Wind Waker. This instrument could provide some unique features to the environment and add tons of possibilities for side quest.

3.Ballalinka

Another unusual instrument that many people only know, because of the Beatles son "Back in the USSR", would be a interesting instrument for Link to play. It could help Link command animals and monsters to help him in puzzle solving and combat, like the grass whistles did in Twilight Princess. This would allow Link to control much more than just eagles or Epona, and add many new features to the series. Players would play it by strumming along to a tune on the Wii U gamepad. Fans would have fun commanding animals and fighting off the forces of evil with a little help from some unlikely helpers like giant beast or birds.

4.Cymbols

These would be used to make vibrations which would crack barriers or enemy armor. They wouldn't have quite enough features to be Link's main tool, but they would be a neat little side instrument. Players could obtain these by completing a complicated side quest for a musician. They would be used to brake down barriers made of glass or crystal and to break the shells of enemies. They would use the gamepad controls in some way to control these items.

5.Harmonica

This would be the least likely on my list and probably wouldn't be the main instrument in the game, but wouldn't it be awesome to see link playing a harmonica while riding Epona? Players would use it to reveal hidden objects, chest, and weapons that are everywhere. Players would blow into the Wii U microphone to play notes in the harmonica. The game would have a large desert portion, so it would be rather western. Players would have a blast discovering hidden treasures and solving puzzles with the harmonica.

So that is my list. Some fans would prefer some on my list over others, and there always is the chance that they could always reuse an instrument. But who knows? Maybe one of these instruments will be the main tool in the next Zelda game! Tell me your favorite on the list in the comments. If you have any ideas for Link's next instrument, tell me in the comments. Keep on gaming!
