Stuff I Want to See at E3

E3 isn't far away, so I thought I'd give my two cents on things I'd love to see at the event this year. Some are possibilities, some are long shots, but E3 can sometimes deliver the unexpected.

Metroid for the 3DS

We're long overdue some Metroid news. The last time we had anything from Nintendo was Metroid: Other M, and the lukewarm reception that received from fans seems to have knocked Metroid down the pecking order at Nintendo. But I want some new Metroid action, something to get my teeth stuck in to. Few franchises draw me in to their universe quite like Metroid, so I'd love to start exploring some new, solitary alien planets. And if I could have my own wish come true I'd love to see a new 2D adventure for the 3DS -- a return to the series roots, much like how A Link Between Worlds was for Zelda.

A New Nintendo IP

This is a long shot, I know, but a new Nintendo IP is something I've wanted for the last few years, therefore it's always something I want to see announced each time E3 rolls around. Will it happen? Probably not. But one can hope.

An Original Retro Studios IP

There's no denying the talent of the Retro Studios development team, but so far that talent has only been used to create new games in already existing and established Nintendo IPs. I want to see Nintendo give them more freedom. I'd love to see a new Retro-developed Metroid title somewhere down the line, but I think they should have the creative freedom to develop their own intellectual properties. A lot of Fans have dubbed Retro as "the new RareWare", but until we see some of their own IPs I refuse to do so myself.

Nintendo's "Quality of Life" Project

I can't even begin to imagine what Nintendo has lined up for their Quality of Life project, so I'd like to see some more information on it.

Fallout 4

Fallout 3 was one of the stand out games of the seventh generation as far as I'm concerned, and ranks as one of my all time favourite western RPGs. New Vegas was solid too, but it didn't recapture the pure joy of Fallout 3. I think only Fallout 4, developed by the same team as Fallout 3, could do that. We all know it's coming, so Bethesda might as well finally announce it this year.

More Information on Monolith Soft's 'X'

X is the Wii U game I want the most. I loved Xenoblade Chronicles, but X looks to bring back some of the magic of the PlayStation masterpiece Xenogears, thanks to the inclusion of giant mechs. I just hope Monolith do both those great RPGs justice with this one.
