Happy Fourth Of July, everybody! To celebrate our Independence Day, and to sort of close out this console generation, because I am not buying anymore games for current gen consoles, I am going to make a list of my favorite games from this generation of gaming. This is just my opinion, so please don't think that this is a fact. Enjoy, and have a great Fourth Of July!
5.(Fallout: New Vegas)
This game is the reason why I'm impatiently waiting for Fallout 4. While it doesn't have award winning graphics, this game makes up for all of its shortcomings with the amount of content. There is way too much stuff to do in the wasteland. I have easily put over 160 hours into this game, and I still haven't beaten every mission. The VATS is more fun to use than ever, and it's wowing in atmosphere. The downloadable content, which I would have played if it was crap, is very good, and is really the icing on the radiation covered cake. This game is very fun, but even at the highest level, those Deathclaws get me every time.
4.(Deus Ex: Human Revolution)
I didn't even want this game when I first heard about it, and that makes this game all the more surprising to me. Withe the beautiful graphics, the great gameplay(with stealth working particularly well), and the excellent voice acting, there isn't really an area that feels broken. And the side quests are just as engaging to me as the main quests, and more often than not, the side quests actually are more interesting. This game is definitely a game that shouldn't be missed. And if you haven't played it, go and buy it now. It's worth it.
3.(Telltale's The Walking Dead)
I don't know if I can even consider this a game, with the lack of actual gameplay, but it's still amazing to go through, and it proves that narrative can take center stage and still make a great experience. The voice acting is higher than top notch, with every character feeling almost human. The characters were all emotionally attached to me by the time it was over, and I was sad to see some of them die, not to mention that I was about to break out into tears at the end. I haven't had this much fun crying since I saw the end of The Return Of The King, and I think that it's actually better here than anywhere else.
2.(Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)
This game is what started it all. While COD is known now as the juggernaught franchise that takes the thunder away from almost every game in November, this game made it so. With the best gameplay in shooters, and the best story in all of the Modern Warfare story arc, this game is still a treat to play through. And the multiplayer is at least the third best in the series, with Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops II ahead. And I can't help but think that this game was before COD became the most hated, and yet most loved, franchise in gaming history.
1.(Bioshock)
This game can't be beaten, no matter what anybody tries to do to top it. The only game that I think did better is Bioshock Infinite, but I actually like to go back to this one instead. The story was great, and I, along with everybody else who played it, were surprised by the twist at about the 5/8 point. While it doesn't have a multiplayer component, this game doesn't need one, and proves that shooters don't have to have multiplayer to thrive. This game has me still popping it in and playing it, just to explore the city of Rapture, which is my second best atmosphere in a game, only behind Bioshock Infinite. This game is perfect, and I can't tell anyone of a time that I was having more fun than when I have been playing this.
Some may wonder why Bioshock Infinite doesn't replace Bioshock, since I seem to like Bioshock Infinite better. But the reason for that is because, while I do think that Bioshock Infinite is the superior game, I have just a little bit more fun with the original Bioshock.
Tell me what your best games of this generation are, or tell me what your worst games of this generation are(that list will be up some time this weekend), or just tell me what you think of this list, in the comments below. I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I hope you have a happy Fourth Of July. Have a nice day!
