*I changed the name from "Uncharted Territory" to "My Dream Game". And slightly changed the concept.

The Legend of Zelda for Wii U

History of the Legend of Zelda Series:

There are 17 major games in the Zelda series, the first one being The Legend of Zelda which originally released on the Famicom Disk System and then was rereleased on The NES. The game is an action/adventure game that centers around puzzles, item based combat and exploration. The original story centers around a young hero named Link who must stop the Ganon by collecting the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom hidden by Princess Zelda in eight temples. After earning each piece via defeating a boss, Link confronts Ganon and defeats him. Each of the following games is a different variation of this Legend. The series continues to evolve over time as the industry changed. The original was a top-down view, the second was a 2D side-scroller, the series then returned to top-down, and eventually 3D with the release of Ocarina of Time.

The Legend of Zelda has always received positive critical reception, especially from GameInformer. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and A Link Between Worlds all received a 10/10 from GameInformer.  Ocarina of Time is often regarded as the greatest game of all time, and has a 99/100 on Metacritc and holds the Guinness World Record for being "the highest-rated video game in history".

Official Chronology:

Why I'm excited for The Legend of Zelda Wii U:

I've played Wind Waker HD and A Link Between Worlds, the two most recent Zelda releases, and loved them both for the graphics, new features, and exploration. Recently Zelda Wii U was shown off in the form of a gameplay preview at E3 2014 during the Nintendo Digital Event. It was easily my favorite preview shown at E3. The introduction of the preview was the games producer Eiji Aonuma talking about the game and what it will be with a beautiful Hyrule in the background. Aonuma mentions how in the original Zelda the player was free to explore Hyrule freely and that he is going to allow the player to do that once again on The Legend of Zelda Wii U. He also placed emphasis on how dangerous enemies could attack out of nowhere in the beautiful and serene land of Hyrule. The actual gameplay then featured Link on horseback being pursued by a mechanical beast. Which Link shoots with two bomb arrows and then cuts out as he fires the third arrow with unknown abilities. Aonuma recently mentioned that the Legend of Zelda Wii U could feature more than just a single-player experience.

My Dream Game

If what Aonuma said is true Zelda Wii U could easily be my dream game. My dream Zelda game would allow me to freely explore Hyrule with Epona by my side whenever I need her. Temples would be rich with multiple paths depending on the items you have earned prior to entering the temple. Items would either be earned on meaningful side missions or in the form of a shop, like in A Link Between Worlds. Items like the bow could be used in a first-person pov via the Wii U tablet. The combat would be slightly more complex then in previous games, by utilizing all the buttons on the tablet more effectively.

The game would start in a more fun way without the tutorials in the form of tedious missions. I hope the Legend of Zelda Wii U kicks off with a bang, starting Link off in the middle of Hyrule and leave the player free to go wherever he may choose. Each temple/area would still have varying difficulties but the order should be mostly determined by the player. For example, I may find the water temple to be the closest at the start of the game and may go there and be completely demolished by the enemies. Then once I earn by boomerang, bombs, bow, etc. it becomes much easier. The bosses would have multiple weaknesses involving multiple items, and the rewards would be more RPG based with power ups or upgrades.

Finally, the multiplayer would be similar to Dark Souls where player can leave notes and hints throughout Hyrule. For example, on a tree in front of the fire temple someone could leave a note saying the easiest way through the temple is with a boomerang. This would add a lot of depth to an open-world Zelda game. It would also be cool to see community events like in Destiny, where a dangerous foe appears in the open world and a group of players can team up to take him down.

I hope you enjoyed my first entry to the "My Dream Game" blog series. I will soon be writing about No Man's Sky, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. If you would like to write a blog in this series about another upcoming game, feel free. I'd love to see your interpretation of this blog series as well as what you would like to see from the many game that have been announced.
