What I Think Of BioShock For The IOS. (Opinion)

In my last blog post, I discussed what 2K United Kingdom might be teasing when they tweeted a image from Rapture. Today, they 2K revealed what they were teasing. Is it a new game, remastered edition, or television series? No, no, and no. Today, my friends, they announced that the world of BioShock is being ported to the IOS.

(Would you kindly read this warning? The following is an opinion piece that represent mine alone. This article is primarily based on the game running on an IPhone, since I do not own a IPad)

That's not a bad thing. In fact, I love the idea that you play BioShock while standing in line for a cup of coffee or just simply passing the time. However, BioShock IOS has a few issues for me that might prevent me from ever getting the mobile version of the game.

The biggest issue is that I do not have the proper model of phone to play the game. I have an IPhone 4. The game, in terms of IPhones, require IPhone 5 and up. I do have an upgrade, but I have no idea whether or whether not I can upgrade to an IPhone 5 or not. If I can't, then you know the main reason why I can't play the game. Let's say for the sake of this article then I can upgrade my phone to the IPhone 5 or up.

The second issue for me is the touch controls. According to the IGN article, the game has aim assist controls to balance out the new controls. These new "touch" controls, in my opinion, have generally never worked for me. For example, when playing Sonic CD, I blame most of my deaths on the touch screen controls of that game. Also, on the IPhone, the controls often clutter the screen due to it's size. For the IPad, due to the bigger screen, it's not as cluttered as the IPhone is. To solve this problem, we have the option of a third party controller, but that's more money on top of whatever the game's price is. And plus, if I'm going to use a controller, I'm going to play on the console.

That's another issue that might make or break this IOS port. The price. We don't know what is, but 2K said it was "premium" price, with no micro-transactions. The no micro-transactions are great, but premium price? Considering the touch controls (Unless for planning to buy a controller) and the graphics being scaled down for the port (although they still look great for an IOS game), I think that $10 would be the highest it should go. Anything higher than that? Not worth it.

In conclusion, the IOS port of BioShock  is great for those who want to play on the go or might not have a good PC to play it on. Those who have a supported IPad model most likely won't have a problem with cluttered controls, the IPhones might due to the small screen. The graphics, while scaled down, still look good for an IOS game. The biggest deciding factor I think will be the price.

Now then, would you kindly go to the comment section and tell me what you think? Do you agree with my opinions, or don't?
